Oh my! I wonder where 2023 is running to?! When did we start this year that it is already leaving us so fast?!
Anyways, I wonder how 2023 has treated you thus far, leader? Or was it the other way round – how have you treated 2023 thus far, leader?
Come along, let us see how it has been.
I have noticed that one dominant human trait is the ability to seek. You desire something, whether it is acceptance, love, care, greatness, or success. Therefore, we seek something that can improve our current state or position.
So, I believe you are seeking something before 2023 concludes – the desire to finish well. It could be in your academics, career, assignments, or business. However, do you know what will bring you fulfillment by year-end? A clear and honest realization of your untapped potential.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥?
Potential is any dormant ability within you that has the power to propel you toward greatness. Potential is ‘power’ within you for change without/around you. Potential is all you are that is yet to be.
I remember the days I battled inferiority complexes. I thought I didn’t have anything to offer my world. I thought I was empty. I thought about so many things. It made me look for approval from people. It made me do some demeaning things.
Thank God, for the liberating power of books by mighty men who have gone ahead of us. Chewing books by Dr. Myles Munroe (of blessed memory) and Dr. Mike Murdock opened my eyes to me and my untapped potential.
You seek something external, which the world calls success or greatness by its standards, but you overlook what lies within you. You neglect what is inside and chase after what is outside.
That is not the way, dear leader.
Fulfillment in any area starts within you. The beginning of it is recognizing the untapped potential within you. Now, how can you awaken your potential for greatness?
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬:

You seek recognition from others, but it will not happen until you recognize yourself and your tremendous power/potential within.
Recognition comes from understanding more about who you are, establishing a strong self-concept that boosts your self-confidence. Knowing you have potential is one thing; recognizing it is another. Recognition involves revelation and inspiration, not just knowledge. Inspiration and revelation nurture self-esteem and confidence. With these, nothing can stop you from realizing your potential.
Seek recognition from within.
𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭 𝐚 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭
Recognizing your untapped potential will reveal profound truths about yourself that you didn’t know before. To accept these truths, you must possess a growth mindset.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭?
It is a mindset that aims to take you from point A to point B, acknowledging that where you are isn’t the best place. A growth mindset embraces discomfort to actualize the true essence of you.
A growth mindset embraces personal development and leadership to become better and to reach the next level.
This may be challenging because humans love comfort and enjoyment. A growth mindset will push you out of your comfort zone to achieve greatness.
Take it one step at a time. Don’t overwhelm yourself, and if you stumble, get up and continue from where you left off, alright?
𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞
As they say, change is constant. I would love to add that change is not only constant but also necessary.
With a growth mindset, change becomes essential to progress. You might need to let go of certain things, habits, friends, or even leave your current environment.
The more you embrace change, the more you unleash your potential for greatness.
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐤…
• Believe that nothing remains the same except change itself. The seed you plant in the soil won’t stay a seed; it will grow into a plant. You have also transitioned from adolescence to young adulthood. The friends you had while growing up are not the same ones close to you now. This shows that change is inevitable, but change itself remains.
Why? Because it is change.
• Ask the right questions. I emphasize ‘right’ because there are wrong questions too. Be wise and ask meaningful questions. Question things, beliefs, and ideals in life. Why are things the way they are around you? Start from there.
When you learn to ask the right questions, by questioning the origin of things around you, you begin to understand the nature of things around you (Vusi Thembekwayo).
And guess what? Understanding comes with liberation.
• Accept your uniqueness. You are different and special. You are you! Embrace who you are. Your journey is unique because you are unique. Your experiences will never be exactly the same as another person’s own on earth today. Acknowledging this means you’ve embraced change.
When you believe that nothing in life remains constant, ask the right questions, and embrace your uniqueness, you will welcome change and be ready for your potential to flourish.
𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐝
Lastly, God is the maker of you and I. He knows you better than you. Whether you know this or not, whether you believe it or not, you are His creation. As He is the manufacturer, only He has your life’s manual.
For the other points to answer, you have got to start with God. He is the only one who knows your potential and your potential holds its source in God. The earlier you understand this, the better and smooth the journey will be for you.
