How to Die Quickly- Ogechi Adili

Death does not only occur when one dies physically. Death can be what happens when your desire to achieve your goal, dreams and ambition dies. When an individual begins to self hate or have his or her esteem trampled upon , that individual can experience death.

The surest way to die quickly is Envy.

Envy is an emotion that can have both positive and negative effects on individuals. Envy often arises when someone desires what another person has, whether it be material possessions, achievements, or qualities. It can lead to feelings of resentment, insecurity, and low self-esteem.

When envy has a positive influence on an individual, I would prefer to call it motivation. It can serve as a motivator for individuals to work harder and strive for their goals. Seeing someone else’s success can inspire them to improve themselves, set new goals  and reach new heights However, it can also be destructive if not handled properly. It can breed toxic competition, jealousy, and even sabotage in relationships. Rather than being envious, be motivated.

In this day and age of technology where people post almost everything online, it is easy for one whose mind isn’t guarded to start to compare himself or herself with standards of success an already affected mind has set.

Such minds begin to misinterpret true happiness and evidence of success, limiting it to material possession, looks , wealth acquisition and smiles forgetting that there could be pain behind happy pictures.

First , your mind is affected, your feeling about yourself and achievements you once celebrated becomes nothing, you feel unloved and your hopes and dreams become dashed and unattainable. At that point , that’s when you truly die.

You truly die because dreams and hope give us a reason to keep fighting and living. The day it dies, you die also.

You still want to live? How can you do that?

In order to overcome envy, it is important to practice gratitude and focus on your own strengths and accomplishments.

Comparison is the thief of joy, and constantly measuring ourselves against others will only lead to unhappiness. Instead, we should celebrate the success of others and use it as inspiration for our own journey. Your story is unique. Give yourself the chance to experience it, live it and tell it.

You see , envy is a natural human emotion that can be both a driving force and a stumbling block. Your healing starts the moment you acknowledge that you have this trait instead of hiding under denial. By acknowledging our feelings of envy and actively working to overcome them, we can cultivate a more positive and fulfilling mindset.

I have earlier said that  envy  can sometimes push us to work harder and strive for our own goals, but it’s important to not let it consume us. Instead of dwelling on what others have achieved, focus on your own progress and growth. Remember that everyone’s journey is unique and comparing yourself to others will only limit your own potential. Embrace your individuality and use the success of others as motivation to keep moving forward on your own path. Learning is allowed but never demean your process.

Absolutely! Remember to celebrate your own accomplishments and progress, no matter how small they may seem. Every win whether big or small should be celebrated . Do you see yourself drawn and intimidated by awards? Set realistic goals , accomplish them and reward yourself . It is important to stay focused on your goals and continue pushing yourself to be the best version of yourself. Comparison can often lead to negativity and self-doubt, so it’s crucial to practice self-compassion and gratitude for your own journey. Keep moving forward with confidence and determination, and success will surely follow.

Trust me when I say you aren’t alone on this ride . What sets you apart is what you choose to do with this feeling. Do you choose to embrace it until it ruins you ? Or do you choose to put an end to it and share with others in the long run how you overcame it , using it as a means of strength instead of weakness? It’s up to you to decide.

Don’t forget to deal with it head on. The mind is a very fertile ground. Do not allow envy to breed to the extent you consider taking your own life as a result of the seed depression which envy has deposited in your mind and you have nurtured it and groomed it to kill you eventually.

Let me tell you a story.

I remember when I left the banking sector and relocated to another state to start my life over . My darling mother called to ensure I was okay and began telling me of someone I knew who committed suicide. Trust me , it all started with a thought. Envy, though a four letter word can be highly destructive.

Another way to kill the seed of Envy is to limit social media addiction. It’s very okay to take some time off to cool off and self reflect positively. Think about the good things going on in your life and don’t forget to keep yourself happy. Everyday, you can self-reflect on the good things that happened or even set reminders to remind you to express gratitude for every good thing that happens for the day. Being appreciative for life is a good way to start . The grave houses a lot of great minds and successful people. Being alive to move closer to your dreams and achieve them, is a miracle!

Expressing heartfelt and sincere  gratitude to others during their moments of joy has a way of rubbing off on you. Do the opposite of what your affected mind tells you to do and have a deposition that your own time will come.

Do not undermine the power of writing. You can get yourself a gratitude journal where you are to Take a few minutes each day to write down things you are grateful for. This can help shift your focus towards the positive aspects of your life.

Even the holy scriptures describe envy as a disease to the bone . Diseases and sicknesses kill. Do not let it kill you! Do not let others use your story as a warning.

You can win the war against envy.

Yes , you can.
